"As Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, I commend the efforts being put forward by the C.Y.O. The C.Y.O. has considerable experience in offering integrated programming and Marydale Park will soon allow children with disabilities to participate alongside able-bodied kids in a camp experience. "This new facility will be one of the most important recreation developments in our city, and Hamilton will soon be recognized as the first city in Ontario to operate a fully-accessible, outdoor recreation centre. This is a project that I am very proud to support."

"Marydale Park will give citizens equal opportunity to enjoy recreation regardless of their physical abilities. Old and young, able-bodied and people with special needs, can come together at Marydale Park to enjoy things that may seem simple – having a picnic, going for a swim, putting a fishing line in the water – but can add tremendously to their quality of life. Yet how challenging, or even impossible, these seemingly simple activities can be, if the environment isn’t barrier-free."
- Former Mayor Fred Eisenberger, City of Hamilton |

“This park will be a tremendous benefit to the citizens of Hamilton, especially to those with disabilities. At Participation House, it is our mission to provide adults who have long-term physical disabilities with support services based on their needs and aspirations. The development of Marydale Park will allow our clients to choose from a variety of outdoor activities that some have not experienced before – like fishing, boating and hiking trails. These activities will help support our clients’ aspirations of gaining independence.”
– Cindy Kinnon, Executive Director, Participation House Hamilton & District |
